Pulling An Oil Sample
Pulling a Sample and Filling Out the Lab Form
PULLING THE OIL SAMPLE:
The oil sample should be pulled at the end of your driving day so that the oil is hot and has been thoroughly cycled by the engine.
Loosen the cap on the side of the OPS filter housing. With the engine running, press the drain and let one squirt of oil hit the ground. Then, place the bottle under the drain valve and fill it to the fill line on the side of the bottle.
You MUST write the COMPONENT ID on the label from the left side of the lab form and affix it to the sample bottle.
Place the bottle filled with the oil sample inside the bubble wrap and seal it.
FILL OUT THE OIL SAMPLE FORM:
Using the example below, fill out the form.
1. You MUST get with Larry or Chris when you fill out the form so that you can accurately account for:
- The Mileage on the oil.
- The Mileage on the engine.
- The amount of “makeup oil” used since the last sample.
2. Take a picture of the completed lab form and text it to your Signal Group to be verified.
3. Once the form has been verified by Chris or Larry, SCAN THE LAB FORM AND SHIPPING LABEL INTO DROPBOX then place the lab form inside the shipping bag with the sealed bottle.
Affix the shipping label to the shipping bag.
Once the form is filled out, IMMEDIATELY place it in the appropriate Shipping Drop Box. (Older forms are UPS and newer forms are FedEx. CHECK THE SHIPPING LABEL to see if it is for UPS or FedEx.)
DO NOT WAIT to ship the sample. It must arrive at the lab as soon as possible. EVERY truck stop has a UPS or FedEx drop box.
